Dungeons & Dragons for Businesses

Greetings! I am an Oslo-based Game Master and I run custom D&D adventures that your company can use as team-building and/or motivational exercises. Sessions can take place at your business or at unique locations like Ullevålseter (Nordmarka). Invoices are digital or EHF. All materials are provided for (including dice, maps, music, books, models, access to digital resources, etc.) and I’ll be there every step of the way to ease your employees into the game and help them complete the adventure.

What I offer:
D&D is not just a game, it’s a collaborative and entrepreneurial undertaking where players must hone their listening skills, communicate, and work together in order to achieve an end. Your employees will not be passive witnesses to the fantasy world unfolding before them, they will also need to work in teams to succeed in it. These adventures can be (loosely) based on your company’s needs, clientele, and even challenges or competitors. Each player will be given a unique role in their team and all players will need to draw on each other’s knowledge and skill sets to complete the adventure.

These sessions will be both fun and challenging. Success is not guaranteed! Players must strategize how to best mitigate risk, manage expectations, and choose the alternatives with the best risk-reward tradeoff. Should one solution fail, players must regroup and get creative in exploring how individual player strengths can be combined and utilized. Failure begets growth, and the best chance of success in my sessions is achieved through collaboration.

Examples:

Oil/gas industry – A clan of industrious dwarves has hit hard times and mined out their supply of fire crystals. With enemies on all sides, a party must set out on a desperate and dangerous search for the vital fuel that powers their defenses.

Maritime insurance – An underwritten ship is lost at sea. Players are tasked with finding the wreck, investigating the cause of damage, and trying to recover the cargo before rival salvage company pirates can claim “No cure, No pay.”

Fish – The local fishing grounds of a small village are hit by an infestation of necrotic plague. The nets are filled with zombie fish and players must solve the mystery and restore the grounds before the village starves.

Technology – The snotty elves have dominated the magic potion market for generations. Human villages can’t compete, and people are fleeing to distant lands. In desperation, your village council has tasked you with finding new recipes and ingredients in the nearby swamp. Among the exotic plants are magical monstrosities and ancient undead from the evil Empire of Shoon.

Shipping – You are part of a trade guild from Velen, one of the most important ports in the Forgotten Realms. The Nelanther pirates are holding the shipping lanes of the Race hostage. You are tasked with breaking the blockade and securing the trade interests of Velen before the winter storms arrive, closing off vital imports of food and fuel.

Customizing your adventure
The above are just quick examples. Stories can be discussed, changed, or re-written based on company needs. Adventures can be bundled into larger collective quests that involve multiple teams, with team-leaders responsible for coordinating decisions and actions, resulting in a final grand battle or event. These adventures are not only meant to be tough and complex team-building exercises, but also motivating and memorable events that will be talked about for years to come. Each team member will have an important role to play in completing the adventure, fostering cooperation and forcing your employees to work together and coordinate their strategies.

I will design and direct the adventure myself, and they can either be completely fantastical or based on the details and specifications you provide. These adventures can be drawn from the existing D&D universe or any other fantasy universe (i.e. Game of Thrones, The Witcher, The Lord of the Rings, etc.).

The framework you provide should include what you want your employees to learn, focus on, or work towards (whether they be company values, new technologies, underlying market fundamentals, emerging competitors, or economic difficulties). Whether you’re looking to energize existing employees, reorganize your teams, or acclimate new employees, I can custom-tailor an adventure that fulfills that need.
